Shahadah- There is no God but Allah and Mohammad is His messenger This piece is the declaration of Allah’s Unity. This is the ultimate
pinnacle of all Truth as Muslims believe. As such it has been
depicted in simple Nasqh Calligraphy, as the Truth is best conveyed
when it is told simply. Though the calligraphy is simple, the
letters have been embellished with the colours of gems that Allah
has beautified His creation with – turquoises, rubies, gold – as a
British poet once said Quoting Milton “Beauty is Truth, and Truth
Beauty.” We can then reflect that if the Truth be conveyed then it
can be told both simply and in a beautiful manner.
The calligraphy was supplied by Mourad Boutros, who is famous for
his calligraphic work – but he has to his credit projects like the
99 Names stone blasted at the Aramco Mosque in Saudi Arabia, as well
as the Dome at the Central Mosque in Brunei.
